A typical person living next door
It’s not easy to describe a typical neighbor in this area - it can be an elderly married couple, a big family with three children, a celebrity, or sorority students. There’s no rule as everybody wants to live in this neighborhood (and honestly, we’re not surprised). The diversity of the people living in the area makes it even more unique!
Things you’ll love
Where to start … Besides outstanding views, historic rivers, and wonderful nearby beaches you’ll find countless possibilities when it comes to the hangout spots or workplaces. It’s simply amazing to have so many marvelous cafes and restaurants. It’s also a chance for younger people looking for a first job as there are many businesses offering seasonal employment (and demand for employees is always present considering a number of tourists in the area).
Be warned …
People are basically everywhere, soaking up the sun and enjoying themselves. Downtown Elizabeth City can be a bustling place, but it can also be peaceful and quiet - this is still a sleepy, historic riverside town.
Transportation
This area DOES have plenty of private service providers for companies like like Lyft & Uber. There are taxi services, and limited public transportation. There is an inter-county bus service, but it is not always the most reliable source of transportation.
Schools
Given the diversity of residents in this neighborhood and a number of families with children living here, it’s not hard to find a fantastic school near your house. More options are available if you decide to drive your kids as some well-known institutions are not far away - there’s no need to worry about the education of the youngest at all!
